This is the best Russian small open collimator "red dot" combat optic from Pilade manufacturer using laser-generated "heads-up display" (HUD) technology to superimpose a reticle pattern onto a filtered lens to provide precision CQB target acquisition. This system presents an unobstructed field of view, in 1x power which allows for extremely comfortable, "both eyes open" shooting. On average, most users will see a 50% gain in target acquisition times and a 50% smaller shot group at 100 meters versus iron sights. It is designed for engaging fast moving targets and targets appearing for a short period of time in close quarters and urban combat situations in various light conditions. It provides clear targeting from 104 lx to 10-2 lx (daylight, twilight and moonlight), one- or two-eye targeting, is very effective when shooting from moving vehicles, and allows for perfect kill shots on fast-moving, small and spontaneously appearing target. The sight provides 3 MOA dot with automatic brightness adjustment. The scope goes off when the cap is put on it and automatically switch on then the cap is removed. No buttons, no switches, no problems. At the rear top and right are the adjuster screws. Just release holding screws before adjusting and tighten them before shooting. It is a tough, well built Red Dot with superior features at a fraction of the cost of other similar scopes. A definite Best Buy, it's lightweight, shockproof, waterproof, has a sealed body, and is for use in severe conditions. It comes with a battery, adjusting limb, screw driver and manual. Batteries for this scope can be found at the bottom of this page or in the Batteries and Bulbs section.

Display is a single centered red dot.

OKReview by RED23.10.2017
This review is for the 1x20 Pilade Red Dot.
The good: I do like the small size of this red dot. I'm using it on a ak pistol and it fits the gun perfectly. It was bright enough for me, however I havent used it in the really bright sun against a light colored background. It's a two piece design, so when you remove the top of the optic to change the battery, the base stays put, so that's a pretty clever way to keep battery changes from affecting zero while still keeping a small package.

The bad: Biggest complaint is I do NOT like the auto brightness feature. That feature alone is what kills this product for me. If it's dark out, the sight thinks the cover is on and just turns off, so it's useless in low light situations. This one does not have different reticles to choose from, but I'm used to just the red dot so not a huge negative. Sight in is kind of strange since they give you a big wheel that you put on the screwdriver and then use the screwdriver to adjust it.

Overall this is an ok sight, nothing special. I got this on sale for a hundy, but I would have been upset if I paid more. If you will not use this in any low light situations, then it's good, otherwise look elsewhere.
Better quality than anticipatedReview by Neo25.12.2012
For a $200.00 optic I am very satisfied. Used on my AK47. I can't think of anything to complain about. I will agree with the other reviewer, in regards to changing the battery, but my brightness is adequate outdoors. I'd recommend using this with an AK that has a rail mounted on the dust cover, or maybe a low profile side rail if possible.
not badReview by paul21.03.2011
overall a pretty good optic I think it was worth the price Pro's and Con's are as follows
1 cheap (my favorite kind of gear)
2 durable while I never did anything to crazy to it it has spent a lot of time being knocked around the back of my truck but it still works fine
3 I rather liked the ability to choose from a variety of reticles I personaly use the 3 sided cross hair setting
1 Dim even on the brightest setting it was difficult to find the reticle on bright days if I wasn't in the shade
2 to high to get a cheak weld eaven with a low profile AK mount I had to make do witha chin weld when using it, good hight when mounted on my AR though
3 Batteries are somwhat dificult to find and you generaly have to remove the optic to change them unless you mount it all the way to the back to the point where the battery compartment is hanging off the back of the rail
