Good product, good customer service
Installed on the side of a Tapco SKS, works great with the supplied hardware. My red dot was loose on the rail, after contacting customer service they sent me some manuals that solved my problem. Great customer service
not quite what I needed
Rail was sturdy and if good quality. not exactly what I needed for my current build so it will go in my spare parts box.
Solid Product
First things first: This rail works as intended. Every ex-Soviet optic I have fits on it solidly, and without adjustment. If you have aspirations of POSP ownership, this rail type will do what you need (although you should look at the narrow, standard, and thick rails depending on how your receiver is shaped to get the optic placed left or right). The actual piece of metal is very quite small, being only around 5/8'' tall, but as it turns out that makes it much easier to locate it on your untapped receiver. The holes are 80mm apart, and it comes with two machine screws that are well-dimensioned to not interfere with your receiver's internals. You will need a #30 (or 1/8'') drill bit and a M4x0.7 Tap for the screws that are included, although there is no reason you could not use a more readily available screw as long as you know what you are doing. On my Yugo SKS this plate results in about 2.5'' between the scope and bore axis. It's a little bit awkward for some people depending on the shape of your face and whatnot, but not really terrible. The scope is also offset to the left by around half an inch or so, but I consider this an advantage as it leaves the iron sight view unmolested. If the high sight bugs you, you would probably be interested in the Double-Connection rail as it can mount optics much lower on the SKS receiver if that's the sort of thing you're a stickler for. The price probably seems high to a lot of people, particularly once they see what a small hunk of steel it really is. Unfortunately, this rail design requires a fair few machining operations, some of which are probably fairly awkward and not well automated. As a result, the price is what it is, but if you want to mount an SVD or AK optic on a gun that was not designed for it, this will do the job.
