#393 Krasnogorsk

In 1927, the Pavshino (now - Krasnogorsk) optics plant was renamed the Factory of Fine Mechanics #19. In 1934, FFM # 19 was renamed Factory #69. After the beginning of WWII, Factory #69 was evacuated to Novosibirsk (to what is now the Novosibirsk Instrument-Making Plant - NPZ). In February 1942, on the basis of Factory #69, Factory #393 was created for the production of optics. In late 1942 the factory started production of PU sniper scopes for Mosin Nagant 1891/30 sniper rifles. A distinctive feature of these PU scopes was using siluminium for the tube as well as changes to the design of the turrets where turret caps were added to protect against moisture. During servicing at the Soviet military armories, often the repair shops would add such turrets to PU scopes made by other manufacturers. During 1943-44, Factory # 393 released more than 80,000 PU sniper scopes most of which were destroyed during the war. All Krasnogorsk scopes we have in stock are shown below.
